About · Filmmaker & director of photography
I make films about people, the work they love and the places they do it.
Commercials, short documentaries and fashion films — shot with a small crew and a lot of patience.
( 01 ) Story
Watch first, film second.
Most of my work starts long before the camera comes out — in conversations, in walking the location twice, in waiting for the hour when the light does what I hoped it would.
I'm drawn to people at work: tailors pinning fabric, a doctor explaining what he cares about, a city waking up before everyone else. I want my films to feel observed rather than staged, so I keep the crew small and the setups simple.
Recent projects include Made to Measure, a portrait of an atelier; a travel diary from Tokyo and Kyoto; and a spec commercial for Nike.

( 02 ) The other side
“I'm usually the one behind the camera. These are the rare frames from the other side.”
( 03 ) How I work
Three steps, every time
01
Listen
We talk about the story, the people and the feeling you want to leave behind. I ask a lot of questions.
02
Shoot
A small crew, natural and practical light, and time for the moments in between the planned shots.
03
Shape
Edit, colour and sound come together in short rounds of feedback until it feels right — not just finished.

Let's make something worth watching.
Commercials, documentaries, fashion — or something that doesn't have a name yet.
